"Full Service tagged along for the whole ride during a 2008 summer tour by 311 and Snoop Dogg, setting up their equipment in parking lots pre-show, powering off of generators and using the swells of 311 fans to get some exposure. They documented the ups and downs of their takeover tour and aptly titling the resulting film Takeover!."

"The coolest part of the story? The ending."

"The film is a chronicle of their audacious (and largely successful) attempt to snare a wider audience. Tired of the standard self-booked tours that independent bands often struggle to break even on, they instead decided to hit the road on a summer tour opening for national headliners like Snoop Dogg and 311—acts that draw tens of thousands to a single gig. They simply neglected to tell anyone that they were coming.

'TAKEOVER!' is a testament to the power of the crazy dedication that keeps small bands on the road for those long stretches of lonely gigs, where they're playing to the soundman—suffice it to say that the band doesn't stay in the parking lot forever."

"If music and arts festival Bonnaroo and “Spinal Tap” (1984) had a documentary lovechild I’m quite confident it would be “Takeover!”

“Takeover!” is a grassroots, musical road trip worth checking out if you’re going to have some friends over for a casual movie night. I enjoyed getting to know this struggling band that can’t decide if it would be more rock ‘n roll to continue crashing the party or to be invited.

by Brian Tallerico (April 27, 2012)

"... the film settles into a groove after the band learns a few lessons from a few missteps and becomes one of the most engaging music documentaries of the last few years."

"... It gives one hope that not giving up on your dream and finding a new way to get that dream to the people could work for anyone out there as long as they have the same drive as Full Service. Don’t give up. Check out the show tomorrow night and ask the guys about it. You won’t regret it."

"Band With Local Ties Finds Fame Hijacking Other People's Tours"
by Alex Wigglesworth (April 18, 2012)

"...The idea logically evolved into a full-scale "Takeover Tour" and and accompanying documentary "TAKEOVER!" which is premiering in Philadelphia May 4 at World Cafe Live.

The film chronicles a 2008 Full Service tour held in fairgrounds and parking lots outside a 311 tour. "We shared a lot of the same fans – their fans are traditionally loyal and receptive to the same thing," Kepner said.

The footage was shot by Kepner's friend and Montgomery County Community College professor Morgan Betz, who brought a student and followed the group across the country. But when it came time to edit the film, Betz was tied up in other projects. "We were sitting on all this great footage and had no one to make the movie," Kepner said.

So, true to the band's ethos, they did it themselves. "My brother [Full Service drummer and singer David "Hoag" Kepner] got a copy of Final Cut pro and taught himself how to do it," Kepner said. "He just holed up for four months and made the documentary."
